Wishing everyone a Merry Merry! A Merry whatever you celebrate, we hope it is a safe and Merry Holiday for everyone! Paris Montana will be closed tomorrow-Dec.24th and 25th, and we will re-open on Monday Dec. 26th. Yes! We will be open on a monday! If you have family or friends in town and don't want the hustle and bustle of the malls-downtown Scottsdale and Paris Montana is the perfect place to be!

We will be open next week from Monday thru Wednesday 10:30-6. Thursday thru Sunday, Dec. 29th-Jan. 2nd we will be closed-this Gypsy girl needs a little inspiration break, maybe something glittery will come back to the store!

Howdy Y'all!!! As you can tell we have been working hard lately since our little bloggety-blog has been asleep for awhile! We have been putting together some A-mazing collections for you at the store and they have been flying out the door- let's just say the Fur has been flying!

We are having our first Artist In Residence Show this Thursday for the Scottsdale ArtWalk. Paris Montana is pleased to have Bobby Boyd Designs come and show some of their new jewelry and artwork made from salvaged 100 year old ceiling tin tile. You know we are all about repurposing and the eclectic and Bobby's designs fit perfect. We first met Bobby Boyd on our travels to RoundTop, TX where we vend at the Zapp Hall show. Bobby's creations have been a part of the CMA(Country Music Awards) Music Row Live events this past month, and he has been hooked up with GAC(Great American Country) music channel. In the last couple of months he added a line of jewelry created by Tricia Samsal of Vintage Bliss, together the jewelry has taken off! We are over the top excited to have them bring their creations to Paris Montana this Thursday only from 5-9. Come and see what all the fuss is about!

Bonjour Y'all! Paris Montana is on the road and having a fabulous time! I had to share a story with you about Pearls and Duct tape, our motto has never been truer!

While getting gas at the Flying J Cafe(aka Truck stop) a sweet lady came over to me and told me a story about an Airstream that she owned at one time. She was pulling it a few years back and the trailer slipped off the ball on her truck, she didn't have any way or where to have it fixed properly so all she had was some duct tape. Well, you may be guessing where this story is going... you know us gypsy gals we are a resourceful bunch! This gal used the duct tape to attach and secure the trailer back to the truck! Can you imagine seeing a trailer duct taped to a vehicle?!! Love it , love this story! It would have been an amazing story if she has wrapped some pearls around the duct tape, but now we know what to do if our trailer hitch breaks!

Merci! Ya'll! We can't thank you all enough for making our first few months of the Paris Montana store a raging hit! We've made new friends along the way and our inspiration for fashion is because of all of you!

We had our Summer Send Off party this past Thursday night and it was a hit! Paris Montana will be closed from June 14th thru Aug. 11th while we hit the road for a few shows in Montana and some creative buying trips to Paris! We will be back in August with some tres' chic Fall couture that will send this city into a buzz!

We also had a preview of the newly renovated Blacktop Boudoir, she's been spit-shined and all gussied up for her Summer tour to Montana! We hope you all have a safe and happy Summer!

Airstream dreams is what we have right now. Summer is here and it is time to Hit the Road! Gypsies must have the wind in their hair and can never stay tied down! We are taking the pearls and duct tape and hitting the road in true Paris Montana style the month of July on a MAJOR treasure hunt/buying trip!

Please join us at Paris Montana Design Studio and Boutique Thursday, June 23 from 6-9 pm for a Bon Voyage champagne toast and to tour the original but newly UPCYCLED Paris Montana Airstream (aka The Blacktop Boudoir), which we will have parked in front of the boutique on Marshall Way!

In the City - There is still plenty of time to come find the perfect upcycled ruffled tanks, ruched cotton skirts and distressed denim capris. We have a variety of comfortable couture summer pieces, haute hats and upcycled gems to add some sparkle! - all at Paris Montana Design Studio and Boutique for the next two weeks!

Military Fabulousness is HERE!! When Paris Montana the Store was created we wanted to have eco-chic upcycled style all around. I think we hit the mark with this vintage military corset made from a pair of vintage military WWII Spats. Pair it with a rouched skirt and a pair of our signature sandals. The perfect combination of textures-rough and soft. Then, some of our ever popular heavy chain necklaces. A mix of Stevie Nicks meets GI Jane! We're big girls and we play dress up! That's what we do at Paris Montana. From the moment you walk in the door, we start pulling out some of our amazing pieces for you. There is something for everyone! You are always greeted with a "Hello daw-ling!". In the second picture one of our out of town customers needed a last minute couture outfit for a Graduation party, and voila! Brushed velvet corset,and one of our custom rouched skirts, some jewels and you are the talk of the party! But then, of course she needed an outfit for running around town in--We've got it! More dress up....comfy oversized tattered tank and some of our custom made tattered and destroyed denim! Fabulous! Dress up was always our favorite game as little girls on the prairie out in Montana.

Here's to Our Mamas!

Friends and fellow gypsies often ask, "how do you travel with your Mother?!?" Then they meet my Mama Luv, who often hits the road with me.

Mama luv is full of fun and life and is always up for a good adventure (as long as she has her own feather pillow and a strong cup of joe the second she wakes.)

I come from a long line of strong, independent women with a sense of style and adventure and chutzpah that defied convention. My mom's mother never left her bedroom in the morning without pink lipstick and rings on every finger. She raised three sons and one adopted daughter while working full time and then traveled the world and walked the Great Wall of China in her 70s.

Grandma Lucy (and Grandpa Ben) on my dad's side took a single engine pontoon plane to a small island in Alaska so they could be there in time to celebrate my fifth birthday party. One of my last memories of my beloved Granny is of her sitting bundled in my convertible with a gleam in her eye after we snuck out of the nursing home so we could go for an ice cream cone.

I count myself lucky to have inherited their unbridled spirit. And while it's gotten me in trouble a time or two, it's often what grounds me and carries me through.

Here's to all our Mamas, and their Mamas!

We can't thank you all enough for coming out to our Grand Opening of Paris Montana Studio & Boutique last night. It was a huge success and we are overwhelmed at the support we recieved from our friends,family, and new friends made last night. The Champagne flowed and truffles were nibbled.

Our featured Designer Tricia Samsal debuted her Tattered Bliss line of Altered Vintage SlipDresses at our Grand Opening. They were a huge hit and were flying out the door! More will be coming soon!

I have been a follower of the Junk Gypsies of Texas for many years. They represent a kind of simplicity and soul food that draws me back to places like Roundtop, Texas and Livingston, Montana, year after year in the Blacktop Boudoir to set up in a field of wildflowers windblown and sun kissed and happy as a pig in dirt.

But just when I'm ready to pack up my favorite vintage boots and head down some dusty road pulling the Blacktop Boudoir and never turn back...something glittery catches my eye from the Chanel Paris Runway show or Mama Love mails me WWD with Donna Karan's new metallic tattered silk line and I die a thousand deaths. Or I catch up on the latest fabulous Frenchiness of Claudia and her Paris Apartment adventures.

This kind of duplicity will make a girl crazy... or set you free...if you are willing to stop looking outside yourself for that "right answer" or jonesing for something that's not really fully you and let yourself be the Renaissance Woman that you REALLY are; a woman with many layers and loves and, most important, a LUST for YOUR life!

Even if it's not neat and tidy. Even if it means that part of the year you are On the Road in an Airstream Trailer in your vintage chaps and the rest of time you are In the City in Scottsdale, AZ working on Indie pieces that are Runway daring and wearable chic.

As coaching guru Thomas Leonard said "Create and Environment and Let It Evolve You." Or, more simply, say "YES" to those things that delight and inspire and, as the incomparable Dr. Seuss said, "Oh The Places You'll GO!"

After two years of gallivanting Down the Road in the Blacktop Boudoir, we have decided to settle down....NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, we have decided to live the Paris Montana Dream full out, which is equal parts City Chic and Gypsy Glam.

While we will never lose our wanderlust (click on the Blacktop Boudoir for our On the Road Schedule), as Virginia Woolf said, "Every woman needs a room of her own." Or in our case a Design Studio and Boutique, where we can create fabulous baubles and design statement wardrobe pieces that are runway daring and wearable chic.

Barrett-Jackson ROCKS! This 14 hours-a-day, 7-day straight glamour packed event never disappoints...and this year was no exception!

For the past 7 days from 9ish am to 10ish pm every day we were at this premiere auto event at Westworld in Scottsdale surrounded by hot cars and gorgeous people.

We had so much fun bejeweling our fabulous customers for their day and evening wear. One of our favorites this year, Christina, purchased and modeled "Gabrielle" from our rhinestone street chic line onstage to help her hubby sell his cars!

And our Paris Montana Wear shabby slip line was a big hit as well. I love this one with the rose train on the back!

Vintage Bridal Show

Sometimes things just work out. We just got our first line
of Paris Montana Wear done...and were invited to participate in the premiere Phoenix Bridal Show this last weekend. Sooo my good friend Tricia, http://www.vintagebliss.typepad.com and I dressed in our finest Shabbies and Paris Montana baubles and headed to the Phoenix Convention Center.
We had a teeny tiny space that felt like a walk in closet. Diva Tricia said it wasn't big enough for the both of us and her bustle...but I loved it! :-)

We had the best time helping several brides to pick out vintage jewelry for their big day. And best of all, we helped the sweetest bride to pick out one of a kind Paris Montana Wear for her bridesmaids. She was so excited to have one-of-a-kind vintage dresses that were unique and affordable!

We love the comfortable shabby chicness of Paris Montana Wear for everyday, but it was also fun to see the brides get excited about our vintage wear.

Next we are off to Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Show Jan 17-23.

There's a special gypsy girl out there who flits from show to show selling her amazing wares and laughing and loving the ride along with the rest of us lucky enough to call the open road and a cow pasture in Texas or a warehouse parking lot in California "going to the office!"

She shows up and sets up alongside the rest of us... But when she's done with that, she chronicles the lives of us gypsies...and shows the rest of the world all the amazing treasures and adventures that find us through her pictures, her magazine and her blogs and links ...and she pretty much helps our gypsy world go round.

Her name is Tricia Samsal of the vintagy and vixeny world of vintagebliss.typepad.com. (Pictured here with me at a gypsy gala.)

During many a roadtrip together (last one involved border patrol and a miniature truckstop kitten named Kitty Galore) she has become a good friend and someone I admire for her talent (check out her creepy chic doll head bottles), sense of adventure, bootstrapping, good hair in impossibly humid weather, and her "as long as we have glitter and batteries in the camera"...outlook on life.

This past weekend Tricia got a little gift from the gods...Actually from the lovely Linda Carpenter, owner of the uber chic Urban Barn in Escondido.

Tricia is now the proud owner of a little vintage honey that is being transformed into the Bliss Lounge.

We will be traveling together with our gypsy trailers...so be sure to look for us out there on the highways and byways!

Pixie Glitter and Roadkill Raccoons

"How much fun can we have before we go to Prison?" was definitely the theme of our trip to Roundtop/Warrenton Antique Week during fall show this last week. So how much fun was it to find this great plaque from Angels, Saints & Sinners?!?!

First, my partner in crime (Tricia, Vintage Bliss) and I had the clever idea to drive straight through from Phoenix to Austin where my sissy Kim was waiting for us to pick her up on the way to the show. I was so excited to see her that 18 hours seemed like no big deal...(pictured here with me in front of the Paris Montana Blacktop Boudoir.)

Along the way, we hit a few bumps in the road: Got stopped by Border Patrol and had to unload half of the trailer, got pulled over AGAIN in Fredricksburg for excessive speed (7 miles over the limit!!!) and, sadly, after taking a Chevy Chaseesque wrong turn down a 2-lane country highway...took out Rocky Raccoon. Sorry little guy!

But once we arrived, got set up and sprinkled pixie glitter all around...the magic took hold! Having my sister Kim working with me rights my world. We are a year and half apart (she's older dammit!) and my whole life it's been me and her and nothing seems real until my sister knows...

Par usual, we met all kinda characters, saw old friends, made new ones and reveled in being in a field of wild grasses in the middle or nowhere Texas, that literally overnight transforms from a population of 77 to 4 billion!

A few other highlights....

- Meeting Rachel Ashwell, the Queen of Shabby Chic at the Junk Gypsy Prom

- Wearing my hoopskirt/spare tire cover as my prom dress

- Laughing with Tricia till our sides hurt at all the ridiculous things that happen when two gypsies are staying in a 17 ft trailer together for 10 days...

- Having Angela, my wonderful customer/friend, model (and sell!) one of my rhinestone bib pieces in Magnolia Pearl booth during opening day at Marburger

- Realizing that my fair skinned sister used 237 baby wipes (my entire supply) during her three day stay

- Selling one of my couture rhinestone necklaces to rocker Dee Snyders' web/social media gal for him to give to his wife for Christmas

- Spagetti and Disco night at Royers' Cafe

- Being invited by Junk Mafia guys to call in to their "Junk In My Trunk" radio show

- Watching a guy walk by my trailer with a duck on a leash...

Forget Purple...

When I grow old, I'm going to wear Iris Apfel glasses with my baubles and pearls.

Along with Coco and Mae West, Iris is another I adore for her fearless unapologetic style.

So I knew it was fate when I stepped into a trendy boutique in the Melrose District while on a recent trip to LA...and there they were. THE GLASSES I have coveted for so long. For $12.99. Which is really one of the best parts, because, while her glasses undoubtedly cost a gazillion dollars, Iris is known for pairing a kicky little H&M leopard skirt with a Sable Mink coat. She is that perfect combination of back alley and haute couture that we so revere at Paris Montana.

Another little secret? She may be 80-somethingish, but she never got old. Like her, I'm skipping most things purple, and

trading in old for growing bold in style and fabulous accessories.

Home Is Where Your Mama Is

Bonjour Ya'll,

Some years back I gave my mom a fridge magnet that said "Home Is Where Your Mama Is." While my mom and sisters and I have always been a closeknit bunch, this homespun wisdom really rang true on our Paris Montana or Bust Tour that my mom joined me and my fabulous artist friend Meg Harper on this summer.

As always we had a BIG time...including driving through golfball sized hail and technocolor rainbows in Montana, encountering a hole as big as the Grand Canyon in the middle of nowhere Wyoming, and desperately trying to figure out how to kidnap a 20ft pink dinasaur with flirty eyelashes in Vernal, Utah.

But what warmed my heart and soothed my soul was working alongside Mamere (nickname from trip to Paris)/Mama Love (from movie The Client) at our shows across the West. During a downpour at one show when our awning threatened to set sail, Mamere held down the fort while I piled jewels into the Blacktop Boudoir. When we got to Yellowstone Park and realized there were no campsite hookups available, she agreed to sleep in the trailer in a parking lot. And Mama Love is now responsible for the single largest sale in Paris Montana history because she took the time to befriend a customer who just needed a little encouragement to unleash her inner fabulousness!

I thought bringing my mom along would be a little harder but worth it. Silly me. As has been so often in my life..she brought me along...with her knowledge about why there are ripples in the freeway, how beattles in the Colorado trees are part of nature's plan, and why it's so important to live out loud no matter what age or stage in life.

Here's to Mamere/Mama Love and to all our Mamas who continue to show us what's really important in life.

"I feel wide awake." I love that line from Gina Davis in the cult classic Thelma and Louise when they are on the run and up close and personal with all the choices that led them to that very moment when they are speeding across the desert in that magnificent '66 T-Bird...

Maybe you are at a crossroads in life like I was a couple years back...where I found myself staring out the window a lot...remembering my childhood when I would spend hours of unstructured time reading, drawing or riding my bike from dawn to dusk...

Should I stay and work harder to do what's safe and comfortable and keeps me in Armani suits and Ferragamos...or should I jump off a cliff and either plunge into an abyss or...learn to fly?

See, as I stand here in a field of wild grasses, with the Blacktop Boudoir behind me and glittery things all around...I know for certain those girls aren't at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. They flew right out the other side on a wing and a prayer and made it all the way to Mexico.

Maybe your dream's not an Airstream trailer filled with jewels, or margaritas on the beach. Maybe it's to own a pilates studio or to ride a Harley. Whatever it is, gypsy cowgirl, FLY!

Country Thunder and Ron

Well Country Thunder was a hoot! Fun to see all the characters who come out for this four-day country musicfest at the historic Canyon Moon Ranch in Florence, AZ. And, after so many years in corporate America, I never get tired of my "office" being a lush green field of wild grasses.

A major highlight was listenin to legendary Willie Nelson under a star filled sky. That one's gonna stick with me...

My most fun customer award this time goes to Molly, Randi and Ron. Molly's just plain and simple a Paris Montana girl. She fit right in and looked fabulous in everything she tried on (and bought!). Randi was just the cutest little pregnant mom, who was right there with Molly...and Ron? Well, listen up gals, his job was to stand there and look cute...give the girls money...and carry their packages!!! Best part? He liked it!!! I don't know where he came from...but I think every girl needs a Ron.

Country Thunder Here Comes Paris Montana!

We dusted off our boots from Texas and I just got my Junk Gypsy "Cleanest Dirty Shirt" back from that nice lady who washes, dries, fluffs and folds...which means it must be time to head to Florence, AZ for http://www.countrythunder.com/! This four day event runs April 14-April 17 and will have our fav Miranda Lambert (modeling a Paris Montana design in our last blog!), the Legendary Willie Nelson, Keith Urban, Kid Rock and even Kevin Costner and his band will be there. So git your boots on girl and come on out! Yee Haw!

With all the fabulous finds we picked up along the way to Texas and back, those cowgirls and country music fans are gonna go crazy!

Miranda Lambert, Junk Gypsies and Texas Caviar!

Ever had one of those magical trips where the moon and the stars aligned...and not only did everything exceed your expectations to the point where you are almost giddy anyway...but then oh, say, country singer MIRANDA LAMBERT stops by and falls in love with one of your necklaces?!? And the amazingly talented and bona fide JUNK GYPSIES are your neighbors...who stop by to ask how ya'll are doin! And the famous local Royer's Cafe, puts on a spagetti and disco night! (Really, is there a better combo?)

Well that's how our trip to Antique Week at Zapp Hall in Warrenton, TX went down.

My dear friend and fabulous artist Meg Harper and I hooked up the Paris Montana Blacktop Boudoir and headed to Warrenton, TX, for Antique Week on a glorious AZ mornin two weeks ago.

If you've never been, it's truly like a designer/shopper/dreamer/gypsy fantasy land with acres of fabulous finds from reclaimed barn wood to $50,000 Persian rugs. I used to complain that we didn't have anything stateside that could compete with the Parisian fleas. We do. It's called Antique Week and it stretches from Roundtop to Warrenton, TX and many points in between!

During our 10-day visit we met all kind of characters, made great new friends, and ate Texas Caviar (black eyed peas with some delicious sauce) like it was going out of style. We danced and sang and laughed and held onto our hats in the wind. It was a most wonderful glorious adventure and I can't hardly wait for the fall show!

Glitter Salvage

On the horizon...During the show we developed a concept for a whole new vintage reclaimed salvage line, which will be a series of statement pieces made from vintage jewelry molds that I can't wait to share with ya'll. For a sneak peak, check out the piece I am wearing in the pic next to Miranda Lambert.

Layers and Layers of Fabulous Bling for Spring!

Greetings Ya'll ~

We started 2010 with a big party at Barrett-Jackson in January. Despite evacuation of the big tent due to high winds and rain one evening, we had a ton of fun and met lots of new friends and customers.

Big THANK YOU to Hinkley Lighting for bringing us a fabulous chandelier to light up our world. And to my assistant, Kristen (pictured) for her sunny smile and creative style!

Really exciting was the buzz around the Paris Montana Street Chic line. We have been busy adding more to our collection for upcoming shows. Here are a few of our fabulous layering pieces. Love making these, laying them and wearing them...For me.. the more textures, colors and styles you layer together the more fabulous you look and feel!

Blissfest 2009

Oooh what a spendidly magnficent time we had at Fall Blissfest 2009 hosted by Kristin and Dan, proprietors of the magically fantastic Domestic Bliss! Who else actually plans a Vintage Western Masquerade Fandango...and pulls it off perfectly down to the straw hats floating in the fountain?!? I think even the California gypsies were impressed!

In pic I am wearing a vintage dress from the impossibly chic new Saints and Sirens Phoenix boutique and a gorgeous feather tail skirt that owner Shelly Sessions salvaged from a vintage trunk! (Proud to say I won the trophy for the Best "Giddy Up"). With me is my wonderful new friend and customer Amy wearing her new Paris Montana multi strand pearl and crystal chandelier necklace and 47 fabulous bangles. And a pic of Pearl Buck, our vintage mannequin in all her finery.

Even Cowgirls Get the Blues...And Turquoise

YEE HAW!!!!! We had so much fun at the

Scottsdale Quarter Horse Classic. Those cowgirls come from a place where bigger is better and I bet even the sheep wear jewels! We layered em up 5 deep in pearls and turquoise before sending them out to win in style.

These gorgeous girls, Trudie and Stacie, loved our tarnished and vintage crosses and cuffs.

While there I was reminded of a couple of things: 1. I still do and always will adore turquoise 2. No matter how far and wide I travel, boots and chaps and cowboy hats...and country music will always feel like home.

La Maison Rustique Weekend

Home from a glorious sale weekend at La Maison Rustique "the Barn" in Temecula, CA, where we met a lot of new friends and customers and found treasures to add to the Paris Montana collection of vintage, eclectic and salvage jewelry.

I'm particularly delighted about our fabulous (and affordable!) new salvage style cuffs. They are the perfect combination of rust and glam. We will have them available at the Maricopa County Home Show Sept. 25, 26, 27.

AND I'm having so much fun debuting our signature piece in the Paris Montana Street Salvage line. It's a vintage Copenhagen can, from the rough and tumble streets of Butte, Montana, hanging from a stunning hand soldered chain created by Mammabellarte. Our collaboration on this piece created the exact look I have been searching for to launch this line! Look for more outrageous street salvage pieces at our upcoming fall events including the Scottsdale Classic Quarter Horse Show the first weekend in October.

The Alchemy of Glamour and Grit

After customers ask, "where is Paris Montana?" (see previous post) they often ask, "what is Paris Montana style?" It's not trendy and it's not exactly boho chic...or straight up couture...It's more....

"Glamour and Grit?" I say...

"Yes! That's it!" They gleefully reply while layering Coco Chanel style pearls with tarnished vintage metal crosses and fringe leather earrings. Or while discovering the sheer fabulousness of combining 3" gold wrist cuffs (one for each wrist) with an oversized flower cocktail ring to wear with their favorite tank and jeans.

The alchemy of combining Glamour and Grit is finding your own unique style and reclaiming a bit of your joie de vivre. As Claudia Strasser says in her wonderful book, The Paris Apartment, "If you let yourself wear beautiful things you will feel like the goddess or movie star within."

Ode to a Rock Star

Sometimes you just have to stop and thank your lucky stars. I have wonderful family and friends. I love my business and my customers. I had dinner last night with my gorgeous amazing and hilarious stepdaughters....And, not only is my boyfriend gorgeous, smart, funny, sweet and kindhearted but he's, well, a rock star. He just got these promo pics done and I had to share because I am so proud of him for pursuing his passion...and let's face it, for making me feel cool.

But, most important, behind the cool shades and James Dean looks, he's the kind of guy who keeps his word and makes things happen. He's the one who said "go for it" when I was deciding whether to jump corporate ship to pursue my dream. He was the one who moved my sofa into his already full loft when it became painfully obvious that my decision to "go for it" was going to put a bit of a cramp in my lifestyle. And he's the one I come home to to share this wonderful crazy gypsy life he knows I have chosen. Like I said, "he's a rock star."

Grace Was With Us

There was a bright eyed sweetie named Gracie Girl, who traveled the highways and byways with Paris Montana this summer stamping bags, ringing up sales, hanging with her wingdog Cooper and sleeping pbj style between her mom and Auntie.

She might be my #1 niece...but she also is just a great kid who brightened our days and made our trip a lot more fun.

Thanks Gracie! Aunt Heidi LOVES YOU!!!!

Jewels and Jitterbuggin

What better way to end our Paris Montana or Bust Mid-Summer Tour than with a farmer's tan and a little spontaneous jitterbuggin in a field of sweet grass with a bona fide ranch hand!

We whirled and twirled and I may have been a little breathless in the end, but I still had all the moves (at least on the dance floor!) of those gorgeous horsewomen we met at the Event at Rebecca Farms, where we spent our last week in Montana.

These gals were the best of the best riders here for the Olympic tryouts. But, just like we suspected...when something glittery caught their eye, they couldn't help stopping by to see what Paris Montana was all about.

As always we made a bunch of new friends and sent them all off with Paris Montana baubles and bling.

We are making our way back to Arizona and will let ya'll know where we plan to be next.

Paris Montana or Bust Summer Tour 2009

Can't believe it's only been a little less than two weeks since my fabulous friend and amazing artist Meg Harper and I packed the Jeep to the gills and left Arizona with the Paris Montana Airstream trailer (aka Blacktop Jewel Box Boudoir) in tow to do the Montana Circuit!

In this pic is my gorgeous Mom (photographer asked if she was a model) me and my sister Kimberlee at the ArtFest in Livingston.

My future is in bonds
How do you put a value on your family showing up wherever you are to set up and sell all weekend just so we can all be together? And what about my best mate Grant flying in for the weekend to spend some time together?

Some families have a trust fund for security. We have invested in bonds that have nothing to do with money but produce dividends beyond what any one of us will ever need to be well cared for in this lifetime (That and I always have a warm bed, clean towels and People magazine when I show up).

I feel like a grammy winner where so many great people and opportunities led to where you are standing right now that your mind short circuits on what to say and who to thank and the gratitude tears start flowing....

BUT here are a couple of Paris Montana of Bust Tour 2009 Highlights:

Before leaving I got my copy of the totally boho chic mag/rag Blissfully Traveled, published by Divine Diva Tricia Samsal. Paris Montana was on the cover AND we got a full page of wonderful photos. Thanks Tricia! You can find her and her wonderful creations through the Domestic Bliss Studio website/blog.

Driving through Zion National Park, Yellowstone National Park and coming over "The Top of the World" Beartooth Pass with the trailer in tow.

Stopping first in the town of Virgin and then in Beaver to to get "I love Beaver" bumper stickers, hats and tee shirts for our men. (Seriously, you can't not...)

Our first show was in Livingston, MT over the 4th. It is a picturesque town surrounded by 3 mountain ranges. The show was a blast AND Paris Montana won Best Booth and Best of Show! It was a huge honor and we got our picture in the Bozeman Chronicle.

Butte was...well, Butte. Somehow this historic, rough and tumble mining town of 30,000 won the bid for the International Folk Festival. 70,000 people descended over 3 days. The music was amazing and we sold lots of Paris Montana baubles and bling.

This is a week of hiking, biking, writing and rest in Missoula, my alma mater and favorite Montana watering hole.

Gypsies always on the go...we are off to Polson next week for the Cherry Blossom Festival.

Strawberry Shortcakes

We had so much fun and made a lot of new friends at the Strawberry Festival. Here are pics of some of our best customers...

Favorite Strawberry moments:

Little boy walked up and pulled 2 crumpled dollars and some change out of his pocket and said, "What do you got for $4? I want to buy something for my mom. She likes black."

And the little girl (above with her brother) who, upon receiving her shiny princess ring (dug out of my magic 'stuff' bag that always seems to produce the right thing at the right time), declared, "We just had a litter of kittens. Would you like a girl or a male?"

I told her while I thought it was a very generous trade indeed, I really couldn't properly care for a kitten on the road.

Life is a blessed thing...

Strawberry with Pancakes on Top

Tomorrow we are off to the northern Arizona town of Strawberry for a 2-day festival in the sunshine...How delightful sounding is that? Again, pinch me...Instead of boarding a plane in my black travel suit, I will be wearing a gypsy dress, going barefoot and hanging out in a place much like I would imagine...Candyland (Remember that childhood game? Anyone....) to be.

I imagine the weather will be wonderful; the town cheery and sweet. But what I look forward to most, what will bounce me out of bed tomorrow morning, is the promise of meeting and connecting with wonderful new customers who always seem to find us. And going on treasure hunts through all our latest finds for just the right bauble or vintage piece to complete a look or brighten a day.

I know it's just a little thing, but for me, it's enough, to see somebody who seems a little harried or beaten down, spend some time finding a little something just for herself that doesn't strain her budget and makes her feel like a million bucks!

That and a greasy spoon that serves pancakes with real maple syrup and I will be complete.

Let er rip!

So I've noticed that a lot of us high energy creative gypsy types seem to have "been through the wringer" (as my mother would say) a time or two when it comes to our men and relationships.

I had my heart ripped out and trampled on a couple years ago when my husband of 13 years up and left me. I was in the 1% minority of women who didn't have a clue that he was leaving till he was out the door.

I spent the better part of a year blaming myself for being so willful and independent. Why couldn't I have been a little more Stepford and a lot less Mae West? (I tried. I learned to play golf for cryin out loud!)

Then one day I woke up and thought "screw it!" I am going to let my light shine as bright as I want. I am going to be loud and full of ideas. I'm going to grow my hair back long and sing Free Bird out the car window at the top of my lungs.

My true self is what I was owning up to when I recently met my true match and mate. He said I talked to fast. Made his head hurt. Was careless with my heart, time and money and a total pain in the a*** And, that it was vitally important to do whatever it took to protect my childlike nature because that was more beautiful than all the clutter and chaos I could create.

I have felt mostly lucky in my life...But this was one of those moments when I felt truly blessed to have another chance at love being who I really am.

I believe that when it comes to men, and most matters, letting them see you "let er rip" is where Grace lives.
